Workshops

1-Cosmoceutical Focus (9 April 2019)

Objectives: Full coverage of cosmoceutical science, products and beauty sessions.

Items: Basic skin structure, skin care steps, chemical and physical peeling, TCA carbonic exfolliation, crystal peeling, Skin cure, Melasma, Acne, Psorasis, Eczema, vitiligo, Rosacea, Cellulite, Strtch Marks, Antiaging, Botox Filler, Hair Care, Hair cure.

2- Clinical Nutrition (8 and 9 April 2019)

The workshop involved the following items:

1-Strategies for reaching your perfect weight

2-Simple obesity causes and managment

3-Exchange List

4-How to calculate your calories requirements

5-Diet planning

6-FAD diets ....Do they work?

3- Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (8 and 9 April 2019)

The main objective of this course is to assist in developing the ability of the students to interpret spectra with the study of the principles and advanced techniques of  Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), and their application in identification and CHARacterization of organic compounds. The practical part involves sample preparation, instrumental demonstration, spectral analysis of compounds containing various functional groups by NMR spectroscopic techniques. Practice problems involve interpretation of  NMR spectra of selected medicinal organic compounds.

4- Computer Aided Drug Design (9 April 2019)

This workshop aims to create exposure and promote awareness among local researchers of the current issues involved in computer aided drug design while simultaneously forming a platform for collaborations and research networking. Its main objectives are: Understanding the molecular basis of drug action and exploring the chemical interactions involved in the complex processes of drug delivery are among the most important goals of modern drug design. We will shade the light on some techniques, such as exploration of active site via Molecular Modeling and mapping protein surface to get a  clear image deriving us towards picturing effective ligand-active site interaction. This workshop also will hopefully be the starting of our understanding of how the field is being utilized at its fullest in Pharmaceutical industry and how academic-industrial partnership can be successful in discovering and putting drug to market.

5- Capillary Electrophoresis (9 April 2019)

This workshop provide the fundamental aspects of capillary electrophoresis (instrumentation, mechanism of separation and different operating modes).  In addition, it covers the strategies for method development in capillary electrophoresis. (What we need in our method?, How to start?, Genetic experimental settings, enhancement of sensitivity and examples of pharmaceutical applications). After the workshop, you will be able to robust, precise and sensitive methods with a better understanding about the critical parameters in capillary electrophoresis.

6-Western Blotting (9 April 2019)

Practically: The participant will be able to:

1-   Identify different materials that are used in Western blot. Perform different stages of Western blot, which include:  a)       SDS-PAGE separation of Proteins.  b)      Blotting of the separated proteins into nitrocellulose membrane.  c)       Detection of the target protein using TMB substrate solution.

Theoretically: The participant will be aware of:

1-   The principle of Western blot. The role of different materials that are used in the technique. Types of antibodies used in Western blot and the basis for their selection. Different systems for detection of the blotted target proteins. The applications of the Western blot.

After the Workshop: The participant will be able to

Perform Western blot in labs at which the semi-dry blotter is available. Choose the suitable detection system according to the required aims.

7- DIC Workshop (9 April 2019)
